Silent Sunday
I can’t do this with my dogs – would have disaster – but do admire this trainer/dog lover. I don’t know if these are real sled dogs – they look like hounds to me. They all, man and dogs, are incredibly fit.
Praying at Half-Mast
I’m tired this morning. I put too much coffee in my maker last evening; consequently, I was sick because it was so strong and then didn’t sleep well at all – no surprise there! Yet, I have read and prayed the Morning Office.
Do prayers count when one’s mental attention is low? I know God and the Holy Spirit know what we need and for what we pray; I hope they understand when I am more faithful in praying but less so in attention and involvement.
What do you think?

Hell, SEMO style
I speak not of Hell or Sheol in the Biblical sense but in the Southeast Missouri sense as one still waiting for new furnace which will enable AC. I thought I wouldn’t need a furnace (after mine was ruined in the flood) not realizing it also governed the AC. HAHAHAHAHA. I put dogs out at night because it is cooler, though my new puppy, Leon Redbone, may think me mean. Even he was free in the house this afternoon, trying to find a spot in front of a fan; said spot taken by Sheila Sheltie, who excels in fan proximity. Must be all that fur. I am truly dripping sweat, need to feed and go to work – the hospital has AC! Be cool, my friends. If you have extra fans, take them to the Salvation Army where they can be shared with those who have none and no AC, either. Thank you!
Heat index this afternoon was 116 because of high dew point. What I do know about dew point is it is not a dry heat.
Never….
One does not need to be in a well written book or film, to learn from this quote:
- “Never get angry. Never make a threat. Reason with people.”
- Mario Puzo, ‘The Godfather‘
US novelist & screenwriter (1920 – 1999)
- And I would add, listen without a prior agenda – actively listen to what is being said by those with whom you are reasoning. When there is open, honest listening involved, your understanding and appreciation increases not only of the subject being discussed but also of the person (people) with whom you are discussing. I am not a diplomat for a reason
. I need to take this to heart. - “Be still and know that I am God.” Being still is quiet listening; knowing comes from true hearing.
Silent Sunday
My priest is careful and deliberate to remind us what we do in and out of church needs to always point to God and our Savior, Jesus Christ. This may be traditional rituals, it may be a new ritual or it may be an app….
